Letzter Tag vom September || Last day of September

Es ist schon der letzte Tag vom September, Gott, wo ist die Zeit hin?! Es war noch relativ warm hier, aber lange ist es nicht mehr bis zum Herbst - hey, morgen ist schon Oktober! Dieses Etuikleid von Next habe ich vor ein paar Tagen gekauft. Ich liebe Etuikleider, und das hier ist ziemlich gute Qualität aber hat nur 36 GBP gekostet. Es hatte komische Flügel auf den Schultern, die ich aber abgeschnitten habe, nachdem ich das Kleid zum ersten Mal getragen habe. Ohne sieht es viel besser aus ... meint ihr nicht?!

It's already the last day of September, God, where is the time going?! It's still been pretty warm over here, but autumn is not far any more - hey, it's October tomorrow! I got this Next shift dress a few days ago. I love shift dresses, and this one is of pretty good quality, but was only 36 GBP. It had strange wings on the shoulders that I ended up cutting after wearing the dress for the first time. It looks much better without them ... don't you think?

Neue Schuhe || New shoes

Es fängt langsam an, Herbst zu werden (auch wenn es heute wieder richtig schön und sonnig war), es war also mal wieder Zeit, mir neue Winter/Herbstschuhe zu besorgen. Ich habe massenweise Sommerschuhe, aber nur ein paar "richtige" Schuhe, für wenn es kälter ist. Außer wenn es richtig heiß ist, trage ich die jeden Tag. In den letzten Jahren war dieses eine Paar Schuhe, das ich hatte, immer hellbraun. Für mich müssen Schuhe einfach hellbraun sein, fertig. Diese Schuhe hier zu finden war leicht. Ich habe sie gesehen, sie hatten die richtige Farbe, ich habe sie anprobiert, sie haben mir gepasst, ich habe sie gekauft. Ich habe eine Weile gezögert, weil sie so casual aussehen (und vielleicht ein bisschen jünger als ich micht fühle). Aber dann habe ich mir gedacht, dass ich in der Wissenschaft arbeite, wo Dresscodes weitaus relaxter sind als in anderen beruflichen Kontexten, und ich es mir also leisten kann, ein bisschen mehr in Richtung casual zu sehen. Wirklich Lust noch lange nach anderen Schuhe zu suchen hatte ich auch nicht, also habe ich einfach die genommen. Und sie waren sogar noch reduziert, von 40 auf 36 GBP, wass für Lederschuhe jetzt echt nicht die Welt ist...

It's starting to get to autumn (even though today was beautiful and quite sunny again), so it was time for me to replace my old winter/autumn shoes. I have loads of flats, but only one pair of "solid" shoes. Unless it's really hot, I wear them every day, which is why I pretty much need to get one pair every year. For the last years, this one pair of shoes of mine has always been tan. For me, shoes just have to be tan. Picking these shoes here was easy. I saw them, they had the right colour, I tried them on, they fit me, I bought them. I did hesitate for a while because they look quite casual (and maybe a bit younger than I feel). But then again I work in academia, where dress codes are much more relaxed than in many other professional contexts, so I can afford it. I couldn't be bothered looking for other shoes for long, so I just got these. And they were even reduced, from 40 to 36 GBP, which for leather shoes really isn't the world...

Ende des Sommers || End of summer

Der Sommer neigt sich dem Ende zu ... und da bin ich wieder! Ich habe seit Ewigkeiten nichts mehr gepostet ... vor dem Sommer war ich sehr mit der Promotion beschäftigt, und dann habe ich den Großteil des Sommers mit Feldforschung im Nahen Osten verbracht. Da war mir einfach nicht nach Bloggen. Ehrlich gesagt habe ich noch nicht mal Fashionblogs gelesen. Der Kontrast war einfach zu groß. Ich werde in den nächsten Monaten auch sehr beschäftigt sein, weil ich daran arbeiten werde, meine Promotion abzuschließen. Ich werde trotzdem versuchen, immer mal wieder zu bloggen, weil es für mich wirklich eine Art Chill-und-Relax-Sache geworden ist (was ja jeder braucht). So sieht's also aus; hier sind gleich mal ein paar Bilder von mir in einem Kleid von Inayah. Blau und lila mag jetzt nicht die allergewöhnlichste Farbkombination sein (jedenfalls nicht da, wo ich herkommen), aber in diesem Outfit gefällt sie mir richtig gut, und ich finde sie passt gerade auch zu der braunen Ledertasche.

Summer is coming to an end ... and I'm back! I haven't posted in ages ... before the summer, I was really busy with the PhD, and then I spent most of the summer doing fieldwork in the Middle East. I simply didn't feel like blogging. To be honest, I couldn't even read any fashion blogs. The contrast was simply too big. I will be very busy in the next few months as well, as I am going to finish up my PhD. I will still try to blog from time to time, as it has really become a way for me to wind down and relax (which is something everyone needs, isn't it?). So here we go, some pictures of me in an Inayah maxi dress. Blue and purple is a rather unusual colour combination (at least where I come from) but I really like it in this outfit, and I think it looks great with the tan leather bag.
