Hallo Welt! Es gibt mich noch, ich bin nur unglaublich beschäftigt mit meiner Promotion. Außerdem war ich krank. Aber jetzt geht es mir besser. Ich wollte heute mit euch über die Beziehung zwischen Mode und Politik sprechen. Ich habe früher oft gezögert, Leuten zu sagen, dass ich mich für Mode interessiere und einen Modeblog schreibe. Sich für Mode interessieren - ist das nicht unglaublich oberflächlich? Nö, ist es nicht. Mode und Politik sind eng miteinander verbunden, sie waren es schon immer. Die Mode-Bloggerin Alison Gary von Wardrobe Oxygen hat das gerade sehr treffend in einem Blogpost zusammengefasst:
"Mode ist und war schon immer politisch. Kleidung und Farbwahl waren immer ein Mittel, um Gesellschaften zu kontrollieren und Macht und Prestige auszudrücken. Menschen haben seit Jahrhunderten ihre Kleidung dazu benutzt, ihre politische Haltung auszudrücken, um gegen einen Anführer oder eine Regierung zu protestieren oder um Gemeinschaft auszudrücken. Die Kleidung, die du trägst, werden in verschiedenen Ländern hergestellt, wobei verschiedene Gesetze befolgt oder gebrochen werden, um sie herzustellen und in dein lokales Einkaufszentrum oder deinen Briefkasten zu befördern. Hello world! I'm still alive, just really busy with my PhD. And I was ill. But now I'm better. Today I wanted to speak with you about the relation between fashion and politics. For a long time, I used to be hesitant to share that I have an interest in fashion and that I write a fashion blog. To be interested in fashion - isn't that incredibly superficial and shallow? Well, no, it's not. Fashion and politics are closely intertwined, they always have been. Fellow fashion blogger Alison Gary from Wardrobe Oxygen has summarised this on point in a recent blog post:
"[F]ashion is and always has been political. Clothing and color choices in what people have worn have always been a way to control societies and show power and prestige. For centuries individuals have used their clothing to express their political leanings, to protest against a leader or government, to show community. The clothes you wear are made in different countries, with different laws used or broken to create them and get them to your local mall or mailbox.
