Three shades of purple

Ich trage mit am liebsten Baumwolle, einfach weil sie strapazierfähiger und pflegeleichter als viele andere Stoffe ist. Wolle und Seide mag ich auch, aber ich hasse es, dass man die Kleidungsstücke nicht einfach in die Waschmaschine hauen kann, sondern mit der Hand waschen muss. So bequem schwer beschäftigt wie ich bin, habe ich fast immer das eine oder andere aus Seide oder Wolle gefertige Kleidungsstück auf dem Grund meines Wäschekorbs liegen, das darauf wartet, endlich per Hand gewaschen zu werden...

When it comes to fabrics, I love cotton for its durability. I have come to appreciate wearing wool and silk, too, but I hate that they cannot just be chucked in the washing machine but have to be handwashed. Being as lazy busy as I am I almost always have some wool- or silk-based item sitting on the bottom of my dirty laundry basket waiting to finally get handwashed...

 

Der Grund, aus dem dieses graue Strickkleid (ESPRIT-Sale, 15 GBP) diese Woche endlich wieder das Tageslicht erblickte, war, dass ich dieses taupe-farbige (Baumwoll...)-Hemd von Primark gekauft habe (für 3,50 GBP). Die Farbe gefiel mir und ich konnte es nicht erwarten, zu sehen, wie sie in Kombi mit dem grauen Kleid aussah.

The reason this grey knitted dress (ESPRIT sale, 15 GBP) finally saw the light of day again this week was my purchasing this taupe (cotton...) long sleeve shirt from Primark (3.50 GBP). I really liked the colour and could not wait to see what it looked like with the grey dress. 

Das graue Kleid mit dem taupe-gräulichen Hemd darunter sah nett aus, aber die Kombination schrie nur so nach hellen Accessoires. Ich entschied mich für diese nach Perlmutt aussehende Kette, die ich vor ein paar Jahren in einer Drogerie in Deutschland heruntergesetzt auf 2 EUR gekauft habe. Die Kette aus Rosenquarz ist ein Geschenk von meiner Großmutter, das ich von ihr als Kind bekommen habe. Das Armband habe ich von meiner Mutter bekommen, zu meinem letzten Geburtstag.

The grey dress with taupe-greyish shirt underneath looked nice but it just shouted for some bright accessories. I opted for this white mother-of-pearl-ish necklace that I purchased on sale at a drugstore Germany a couple of years ago for only 2 EUR. The rose-quartz necklace was a gift from my grandmother which she gave to me when I was a child. And lastly, the white bracelet was given to me by my mother for my last birthday.

Mein erster Impuls war, nach meinem schwarzen Tuch zu greifen, aber dann dachte ich, dass das das Outfit zu dunkel wirken lassen würde und nicht wirklich zu den grau-lila Farbtönen passen würde. Also entschied ich mich für diesen lila Schal. Es ist einer dieser 1-GBP-Schals, die man hier in London auf den Märkten kaufen kann und die ich beschlossen habe, nicht mehr zu kaufen (wegen der miserablen Qualität), aber ich konnte dieser Farbe einfach nicht widerstehen.

My first impulse was to reach for my black scarf but then I thought that it would make the outfit look too dark and not really go that well with the grey-purplish colour theme. So I went for this purple scarf. It is one of those 1 GBP scarves that you can buy here in London at markets and which I have vowed not to buy anymore (due to their poor quality) but I just could not resist this colour.

Ich habe es mit dunklen Bluejeans getragen, aber passen würde es auch zu einer grauen Hose (und sähe damit gleich auch ein ganzes Stück businesstauglicher aus). ||
I wore it with dark blue jeans, but it would also work (and look more professional) with grey trousers.
